Polaroid Series - 8. Liverpool, The Docks to the City Centre
Richard is fascinated with using Polaroid film with its one off unique image making capability coupled with the distinctive nostalgic aesthetic. He aims to capture images from a variety of location around the UK looking primarily at the contemporary urban built environment and redevelopment contrasting with decay and the industrial past.
Using his instinctive eye for composition he uses the Polaroid camera to capture various scenes from location views or scene setters, more graphic views and details of objects he finds of interest.
This series was taken on a trip to Liverpool on 10th June 2010. It starts from the Echo Arena on the docks and heads along the docks to the Liver Building passing many new developments before heading into the city centre and the Roman Catholic Cathedral. It views all aspects of the city from the docks, new developments of old industrial sites and iconic land marks.
