Detached House Series
‘Detached House’ is a personal photographic work by Richard Foot, looking at the area he has lived and grown up in. The images show typical views during weekday afternoons devoid of people. Does anyone actually live here or merely reside?
Built in the 1970’s the areas known as Washford Park and Barns Green are housing developments of exclusively detached houses and bungalows which join onto the old village of Meole Brace to the south of Shrewsbury.
Apart from the car journey to and from work and the school run it is an eerily quiet area with hardly a soul around in the day time, it is like a ghost estate.
We seem to live in our little bubble and don’t really know who we are living around which seems to be the case more often than not these days. We are detached from a sense of community.
